For the next 10 months (May 2021-February 2022) we'll be posting a different question/prompt to our social media every month to encourage you to share your #flutistory with our community!

For each monthly #flutistory you share*, we will donate $1 to fund an important project for our community. Advised by BIPOC leaders in the classical music community such as the trailblazing Umoja Flute Institute, the #flutistory project will sponsor an exciting recording project featuring BIPOC flutists!

WHY THIS PROJECT?

For years Flutistry has presented our "Art/Power of Listening" workshop at schools and festivals around the country. We present a range of historic through current professional recordings of famous flute literature to discuss what we hear and how we listen, putting the recordings and interpretations in context for the listener's creative benefit. For us this workshop has always had one glaring shortfall: the majority of professional flute recordings available lack diversity.

The community's collective sharing of their #flutistory each month will not only be inspiring, but it empowers the entire flute community to be a part of amplifying BIPOC voices and their representation in professional flute recordings!

BUT THAT’S NOT ALL

We have incredible monthly co-sponsors who will be donating matching funds (up to $500!) for each #flutistory submission received! 

100% of funds we raise will be held in the linked GoFundMe campaign and will be designated for artist, recording, and production expenses as approved by the #flutistory advisory committee. With the community's help, our goal is to raise a minimum of $10,000 by the end of this 10-month campaign wrapping up in February 2022!

*for each #flutistory answer you submit to count towards our fundraising goal, all you have to do is:

1. Share your answer in a video or photo with caption via Instagram and/or Facebook
